Can का प्रयोग Modal Auxiliary Verb रूप में करते हैं। Can के प्रयोग से किसी वस्तु या व्यक्ति की क्षमता, योग्यता, बल, सैद्धांतिक संभावना, अनुमति, का बोध होता है। जब किसी व्यक्ति या वस्तु द्वारा अपने क्षमता या योग्यता से किए हुए कार्य को व्यक्त किया जाता है तो ऐसे वाक्यों में Can का प्रयोग होता है। जैसे;

मैं यह कार चला सकता हूं।
I can drive this car.
तुम गांव जा सकते हो।
You can go to village.
वह अंग्रेजी बोल सकता है।
He can speak English.
मैं आपको उर्दू पढ़ा सकता हूं।
I can teach you Urdu.
मिस्टर वर्मा संस्कृत पढ़ सकते हैं।
Mr Verma can read Sanskrit.
यह बच्चा पानी में तैर सकता है।
This child can swim in water.
क्या तुम वजन उठा सकते हो?
Can you lift weight?
क्या वह साइकिल चला सकता है?
Can he ride the bicycle?

Note: उपर्युक्त वाक्यों में Can का प्रयोग (Use of Can) हुआ है। इन वाक्यों से हमें योग्यता, क्षमता, बल, शक्ति या अनुमति का बोध हो रहा है।

Use of Can Rules in Hindi

Rule – 1. Can का प्रयोग ‘ability‘ को प्रकट करने के लिए करते हैं; जैसे –

(a) She can speak French and English.
वह अंग्रेजी और फ्रेंच बोल सकती है।

(b) I can solve the mathematics problems very easily.
मैं गणित के प्रश्नों को बहुत आसानी से हल कर सकता हूँ।

(d) We can solve this problem now.
हम इस समस्या को अभी हल कर सकते हैं।

Rule – 2. Can का प्रयोग ‘capacity‘ का बोध कराता है; जैसे –

(a) I cannot lift your bag.
मैं आपका थैला नहीं उठा सकता हूं।

(b) Ram can swim across this river.
राम इस नदी को तैर कर पार कर सकता है।

(d) Seema can win the race.
सीमा यह दौड़ जीत सकती है।

Rule – 3. Can, ‘power‘ को प्रकट करता है; जैसे-

(a) The own can grant you a leave.
मालिक आपको छुट्टी दे सकता है।

(b) My brother can your brother.
मेरा भाई तुम्हारे भाई को हरा सकता है।

(d) I can help you now.
अब मैं आपकी मदद कर सकता हूं।

Rule – 4. Can के प्रयोग से, permission और prohibition को व्यक्त करते हैं; जैसे-

(a) You can use this computer now.
अब आप इस कंप्यूटर का उपयोग कर सकते हैं।

(b) You cannot smoke in the bank or hospital.
आप बैंक या अस्पताल में धूम्रपान नहीं कर सकते।

(d) You cannot throw polythene here.
आप यहां पॉलिथीन नहीं फेंक सकते हैं।

(e) You can go from here now.
अब आप यहां से जा सकते हैं।

Rule – 5. Can का प्रयोग, ‘possibility तथा ‘impossibility‘ को व्यक्त करने के लिए करते हैं।

(a) Accidents can happen at any time on this road.
इस सड़क पर कभी भी हादसा हो सकता है

(b) Anyone can make a mistake.
कोई भी गलती कर सकता है।

(d) The wild animals can harm you.
जंगली जानवर आपको नुकसान पहुंचा सकते हैं।

Rule – 6. Interrogative Sentences में अकेला can भी can’t का अर्थ दे सकता है; जैसे –

(a) Can milk be black?
(b) Can the dumb speak?
(c) Can an illiterate person write?
(d) Can the poor be rich?

How to Make Sentences of Can in Hindi

Can का प्रयोग वाक्यों में नीचे दिए गए नियमों के अनुसार करते हैं।

Rule (1): Can का प्रयोग एकवचन करता तथा वचन करता के साथ करते हैं।

I can (मैं…….. सकता हूं।)
We can (हम……..सकते हैं।)
You can (तुम……..सकते हो।)
He can (वह……..सकता है।)
She can (वह……..सकती है।)
It can (……..सकती है।
They can (वे सकते हैं।)
The boy can (लड़का……..सकता है।)
The boys can (लड़की………सकते हैं।)
The men can (आदमी……..सकते हैं।)
The teachers can (अध्यापक………सकते हैं।)
The children can (बच्चे सकते हैं।)
The girls can (लड़कियां……..सकती हैं।)

Rule (2): Can के साथ मुख्य क्रिया की पहली अवस्था (First Form of the Verb) का प्रयोग करते हैं।

Affirmative Sentences of Can

Can के Affirmative Sentences को बनाने के लिए नीचे दिए गए सेंटेंस स्ट्रक्चर के अनुसार हिंदी से अंग्रेजी में वाक्य का अनुवाद करते हैं।

Structure: Subject + Can + Verb I + Object + other words.

1. मैं छलांग लगा सकता हूं।
I can jump.

2. तुम उसे पीट सकते हो ।
You can beat him.

3. तुम ग्वालियर जा सकते हो ।
You can go to Gwalior.

4. मैं बाहर जा सकता हूं ।
I can go out .

5. मैं तुम्हे हरा सकता हूं।
I can defeat you.

6. मैं इसे हल कर सकता हूं।

17. तुम मैच जीत सकते हो।

Can के Negative Sentences बनाने के लिए Subject के बाद cannot या can’t का प्रयोग करते हैं।

Structure: Subject + cannot/can’t + Verb I + Object + other words.

1. इस बोतल में पांच लीटर पानी नहीं भर सकता है।

13. मैं यह किताब नहीं ले जा सकता हूं।
I cannot carry this book .

14. मैं फोन नहीं चला सकता हूं।
I cannot operate the phone.

15. वे कार नहीं खरीद सकते हैं।

16. हम बाजार नहीं जा सकते हैं।
We can not go to market.

17. चोर चोरी नहीं कर सकता है।
The thief cannot steal.

18. मेरा भाई गाली नहीं दे सकता है।

Can के Interrogative Negative Sentences बनाने के लिए सब्जेक्ट के बाद Not का प्रयोग करते हैं।

यदि वाक्य ‘क्या’ से शुरू है तो वाक्य के प्रारंभ में Can’t का प्रयोग कर सकते हैं। यदि वाक्य के बीच में कोई प्रश्नवाचक शब्द आया है तो उस प्रश्नवाचक शब्द की अंग्रेजी के बाद can’t का प्रयोग कर सकते हैं।
